“One year three months ago. I remember getting the phone call from my Aunt Syndi; I was at the end of a very long road trip… {travelling from Utah to New Jersey} she asked me if I was sitting down, I could hear the pain in her voice. She said, “I wanted to tell you this before you see it on social media or in the news. They found your sister Lani dead behind a restaurant in Boise. The police aren’t sure the cause of the death yet, but I’ll keep you posted the more that I know. I’m so sorry.”

Everything suddenly felt like a dream. My feelings begun as confusion and then moved onto guilt. My mind took me back to the memory of the last thing I said to her… she was reaching out to me, and I pushed her away because I didn’t agree with her choices. She was addicted to heroin and would not accept the kind of help my family & I wanted to offer her. My Dad, however, never gave up on her. He forgave her time and time again, just as I should’ve done. The guilt I felt for not being there for her made me feel not worthy of feeling grief or sadness about her death. It was a never ending circle of pain and confusion.

That is when (thanks to a few of my incredibly supportive friends) I picked up a hoop for the first time…. and friends, I can safely say that it guided me out of darkness. It taught me that there is an infinite abundance of energy surrounding each and every one of us, the most important thing is here and now. We are all connected through these never ending circles.. we are all united in this flow of life.

In the last year, I’ve learned that I am not the only one with a story like this one. A story that’ll inspire you to pick up a hoop yourself….

That is what inspired me to create Hoop Spirit Guide
